Blogger Compares Obama's Campaign To That Of Republican Bobby Jindal's 2003 Campaign

Phillip Stutts, a political and corporate consultant from the D.C. area (and a fraternity brother of mine from Alabama) posted a very interesting article today comparing the current Obama presidential campaign to Bobby Jindal's failed first attempt at winning the 2003 Louisiana governor's race.

I found one segment of his article very interesting. When referring to why Jindal didn't win the '03 election, Stutts said, These voters were simply reluctant to vote for an unknown quantity even with a glowing track record. Unlike Senator Obama, Jindal already had an impressive body of substantive work, including a remarkable stint as the Louisiana Director of the Department of Health and Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Will Senator Obama face the same type of skeptism come election day? While I'm sure Obama's speech tonight will be electrifying, I'm not sure if it will be enough to energize the millions of voters who are on the fence. Obama's time may come in the future, but I'm not sure if this election will be it.

Barack Obama Is A Distant Relative Of General Robert E. Lee

Researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society did a study on the three candidates for President, and there are some very interesting findings. Among them:

Obama has a prolific presidential lineage that features Democrats and Republicans. His distant cousins include President George W. Bush and his father, George H.W. Bush, Gerald Ford, Lyndon Johnson, Harry S. Truman and James Madison. Other Obama cousins include Vice President Dick Cheney, British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill and Civil War General Robert E. Lee, and he's also related to Brad Pitt. I'll give him credit, that's a pretty impressive blood line...

Clinton, who is of French-Canadian descent on her mother's side, is a distant cousin of singers Madonna, Celine Dion and Alanis Morissette and actress Angelina Jolie. She's also distant cousins with beatnik author Jack Kerouac and Camilla Parker-Bowles, wife of Prince Charles of England.

McCain, whose lineage was harder to trace because of poor record-keeping is a sixth cousin of first lady Laura Bush.
