Fred Thompson's Speech At The RNC National Convention

If you missed it last night, here's Fred Thompson's speech from the Republican National Convention. He delivered a very emotional speech last night, and he had a couple of great one-liners. My favorite was around 4:10 into the video. If you don't have time to listen to it all right now, just fast forward to about 4:00 and listen. I think you'll get a kick out of what he said about Sarah Palin. Enjoy!

Alternate Careers, Favorite Foods, Favorite Reality Shows and Much More About The 2008 Presidential Candidates

Did you know that former Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee would be playing bass guitar for a traveling rock band if he wasn't running for President, and Fred Thompson's most prized possession is his "trophy wife".

What do the candidates like to cook? Don't expect gourmet meals from this bunch:

DEMOCRATS

Clinton: ''I'm a lousy cook, but I make pretty good soft scrambled eggs.''

Edwards: Hamburgers.

Obama: Chili.

Richardson: Diet milkshake. (Huh?)

REPUBLICANS

Giuliani: Hamburgers or steak on the grill.

Huckabee: Ribeye steak on the grill.

McCain: Baby-back ribs.

Romney: Hot dog.

And, the only thing that Hilary Clinton and Mitt Romney will probably ever agree on is they both like American Idol...

To see what the other candidates like to watch on TV and find out much more about their personal lives, go to this page on HappyNews.com. Guess whose nickname was Bird Legs?

Make it a great day!

Fred Thompson Makes It Official Last Night On Leno

Fred Thompson officially announced his candidacy for the Presidency last night on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Thompson promised to return the party to better times. I agree Fred. What the country needs is a little Law & Order (no pun intended). Enjoy!

Fred Thompson To Take Step Towards Presidency

According to Yahoo News, Fred Thompson (Former Tennessee Senator and Law & Order actor) will take a step toward a formal presidential candidacy next week, several officials with knowledge of the plans said Wednesday.

I think he'll make a good run for it as well. After yesterday's news about Russia successfully testing an ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) that they say is capable of overcoming any existing or future missile defense systems, I think it's imperative we place someone in the presidency who has a very strong backbone and is willing to stand face-to-face with any enemy or potential enemy we may have.

We'll see. It's definitely going to be an interesting race.

Have a great day!

Law and Order Might Finally Be Brought to the White House

It looks like Law & Order actor and former Tennessee Senator, Fred Thompson, might be making a run at the White House. The conservative Republican said he's leaving the doors open while he evaluates the other Republican presidential candidates and their positions.

Besides Rudy Giuliani and possibly Mitt Romney, none of the other candidates in the race right now have a chance to beat Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in my opinion. Here is how Thompson stands on some of the key issues: (From Yahoo.com)
  • Is "pro-life," and believes federal judges should overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion rights decision as "bad law and bad medical science."
  • Opposes gay marriage, but would let states decide whether to allow civil unions. "Marriage is between a man and a woman, and judges shouldn't be allowed to change that."
  • Opposes gun control, and praised last week's 2-1 federal appeals decision overturning a long-standing handgun ban. "The court basically said the Constitution means what it says."
  • Supports President Bush's decision to increase troops in Iraq. "Wars are full of mistakes. You rectify them. I think we are doing that now," he said. "We've got to give it a chance to work."
  • Would pardon former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby's conviction for perjury and obstruction of justice now, rather than waiting until all his appeals are exhausted. Libby is "bearing the political brunt of something that should've never come about," Thompson said, noting that "practically every witness at trial had inconsistent statements."

What do you think about Fred Thompson? Would it be a good move for him to enter the race? Do you think he could beat Hillary or Obama? Before I give my opinion on him, I need to find out more about him, but I like his stand on the issues, and his presence on film is great. Remember Ronald Reagan folks.... In my opinion, the president's job is 75% acting and 25% substance. His main job no matter what is going on is to ACT in control and in charge. Fred Thompson could definitely do that.

Make it a great day!
