President Bush's Limousine Stalls in Rome

This is a fascinating video. It's great footage by someone who just happened to be at the right place at the right time with his video camera, which isn't that uncommon these days.

The video is about seven minutes long, and it shows how long President Bush was sitting still in a stalled limo in the middle of Rome during his visit. The Secret Service did exactly as they were supposed to by surrounding the limo and protecting the President. President Bush even got out while they were stalled and waved to the bystanders.

This could have easily turned into a dangerous situation had the crowd been more anti-Bush rather than mostly pro-Bush. It's just an interesting video to watch. Enjoy!

Two Houses - One Saves the Environment and the Other Wastes It

One of the great things about email and the internet is that information travels extremely fast. The challenge though is to determine if the information is true or not. I've mentioned the website, Snopes.com to you all in the past. Snopes is the best place to go online to verify if an email or story you read online is really true or not. That being said, I checked Snopes, and the following email that was sent to me from a friend is true and quite surprising considering who the owners of the two houses are....

LOOK OVER THE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE FOLLOWING TWO HOUSES AND SEE IF YOU CAN TELL WHICH BELONGS TO AN ENVIRONMENTALIST.

HOUSE # 1:

A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not in a northern or Midwestern "snow belt," either. It's in the South.

HOUSE # 2:

Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every "green" feature current home construction can provide. The house contains only 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on arid high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer.

The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes 25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers and shrubs native to the area blend the property into the surrounding rural landscape.

HOUSE # 1 (20 room energy guzzling mansion) is outside of Nashville, Tennessee. It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist (and filmmaker) Al Gore.

HOUSE # 2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas. Also known as "the Texas White House," it is the private residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.

So whose house is gentler on the environment? Yet another story you WON'T hear on CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC or read about in the New York Times or the Washington Post. Indeed, for Mr. Gore, it's truly "an inconvenient truth."

As I mentioned, here is the verification of the authenticity of this email from Snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.asp

Good luck today. Make it a great one!

President Bush's Visit to Enterprise Alabama

The email below was sent to me by a friend who lives in Enterprise, Alabama. It was written by someone in Enterprise. She is relaying a message told by an ABI officer who attends Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Enterprise. The officer was with President Bush when he visited.

--------

There is a man at Ridgecrest who is an ABI officer. He got up last night and told us about having the honor of being paired with one of the secret service men who were with President Bush Saturday in Enterprise. He said when they started walking through the rubble at the school they came upon four students waiting for the President.

They were in an area where on the floor there was a emblem that read EHS Class of 65. When the President approached the students he asked which one of you is the president (I assume president of the student body)? One of of the girls kind of raised her hand and said I am then she hung her head and started to cry. President Bush wrapped his arms around her and the other three joined them. Barry, the ABI officer said President Bush started to cry and said "It's tough being the president isn't it." Barry said he talked with them a little longer. He said he was very close to the President but couldn't hear every word that was spoken, but he could tell that the President was quoting scripture.

After a while the President started walking again and said he wanted the emblem preserved whatever it took. The Mayor then spoke up and said they would take care of it and President Bush turned to him and said "I was speaking to the President." I bet that the Mayor closed his mouth then!!! and then President Bush said "by the way where are my children"? The four students who were lagging behind came running up to him and walked the rest of the way over to the church with him. The media were sent to a different area Barry said. When President Bush got inside the church to meet with the families of those that had been killed the secret serviceman turned to Barry and said this is as far as we go. This is his time with them.

Barry then asked him if the President was protected and the secret servicemen said yes, he is protected, but not by us. Barry could hardly contain himself as he was telling us this last night. He said he told the secret service man that he wished everyone could witness what he just did, then they could see that the most powerful man in the United States was just another human being, a father, a comforter, a friend and had true compassion for these people. However the media does not portray that, big surprise! Of course I don't tell this story with the humility that Barry did because he was there, but I thought you might like to hear it.

AP Poll Shows Santa Is Enduring

Santa lives on....

This story comes courtesy of HappyNews.com --

"Santa has lots going against him _ school-yard rumors, older brothers who think they know the deal and tattle to the young ones, errant price tags, the tell-all Internet and so many Made in China labels it seems the North Pole has outsourced to Asia.

Humbuggers everywhere. But no worries. It's a wonderful life for Santa.

An AP-AOL News poll finds him to be an enduring giant in the lives of Americans.

Fully 86 percent in the poll believed in Santa as a child. And despite the multiethnic nature of the country, more than 60 percent of those with children at home consider Santa important in their holiday celebrations now.

That's an approval rating President Bush and most in Congress could only dream about these days. (If Santa were a politician, Catholics and the nonreligious would be his base.)"

Bush, at 60, Still Puts (Bike) Pedal to the Metal

From MSNBC.com -- "Just weeks after his 60th birthday, President George W. Bush showed no signs of slowing down on Saturday, powering his mountain bike up steep hills in 100-degree heat and exhausting younger riders.

Confident that a U.N. resolution on southern Lebanon was essentially complete, Bush broke away from his ranchhouse for a spin around his 1,600-acre (647-hectare) Texas ranch, across single-track trails that he helped hack out of the dry, dusty environs.

While some of his Democratic critics have complained he spends too much time on his bike, Bush said the exercise helps him deal with the pressures of the presidency.

"Riding helps clear my head, helps me deal with the stresses of the job," a sweat-soaked Bush said after an hour-and-20-minute ride that shot his heart rate up to 177 beats per minute at the top of one climb."

Frank Caliendo

Have you ever heard of Frank Caliendo? If you haven't, you are in for a treat. His impressions of George Bush, Bill Clinton, Terry Bradshaw, Jimmy Johnson and many others are hilarious. He's featured on FOX Sports Sunday football coverage and on MADtv. I thought a good laugh would be a good way to start your Saturday off right. Go to his website located at www.frankcaliendo.com and check out some of the clips. They are hilarious.

And, make it a great day!
