Helpful Tips For Chatting Up The Family During The Holidays

The holiday season is always nice because you get to see friends and relatives that you may not have seen in quite some time. But, if you're not the best at starting conversations, I found an interesting article on Gimundo.com that might help you "break the ice." Here are some of the tips from the article:
  • Pretend you're Oprah. Every one of your relatives has some sort of passion in their lives – the key to an interesting conversation is to draw it out.
  • Agree and expand. Small talk can be boring – but there's a simple way to take it to the next level. If your mother complains about the dollar's value being low overseas, don't just nod your head in assent – offer a thought of your own...
  • Find common ground. If you don't want to get sucked into a fight about politics or religion, it's always best to prepare a few topics of conversation that won't provoke controversy. Try bringing up movies, music, etc.

Good luck and make it a great day!
