Tony Robbins stopped by Good Morning America and offered up some advice on ways to handle today's challenging times. My favorite quote from this video, "When you've got extreme stress, use it, don't let it use you."

Hello everyone,
As 2008 comes to a close, it's no secret that this year has been a very challenging one to say the least. It's been hard to publish a blog about being positive when all around us negative stories and events are happening every day. And, I'll be the first to admit that things haven't looked this bad in a long, long time. But, that's one of the reasons why we all need to change our attitude.
We can't just give in and say, "Well, things are bad, so it's alright to feel bad. It's okay to feel depressed. I mean, look at the stock market. My savings are almost gone. Life sucks!" I'm sorry to be so blunt today, but the truth is we all need a good swift kick in the butt. It's time we started affecting the world and stopped letting the world affect us. If everyone in America started thinking this way, I truly believe we would see a swift turnaround very soon.
To this effect, I came across a book over the holidays that I would encourage everyone to read. It's called Kickback by Robert Urbanowski and it's about what it takes to achieve success, happiness and real fulfillment in your life, and it's just what this country needs right now. Here's what this book can do for you:
1. It will reveal the myths and flawed ideas that the media promotes about how to obtain success, happiness and fulfillment.
2. It will reveal the truth about how to achieve and be happy in life, and at work, or in business.
This is not a theory. It's a proven truth - a Law.
During the five years that Robert Urbanowski was writing this book, he was "experimenting" with this Law. Like a new user of Windows Vista, he wasn't sure exactly how it worked, so he spent a LOT of time working out the bugs.
"I applied this principle with one of my corporate clients at the time. Over that five-year period, the company's revenue grew by more than 2000," says Robert Urbanowski.
Robert found this Law produced a very favorable Kickback in his own personal life too.
"My income grew many times over, and I went from a salesman to owner of my own business. Now, I help other business owners and executives grow their businesses. I love it. It's my dream job (OK, my first choice would have been a fighter pilot - but this is a happy second option)."
The book, Kickback, is about more than a means to an end. It is about a fresh new outlook on life that reveals the truth behind all true success and happiness.
An experienced executive, who read an advanced copy of this book put it this way: "I think this is a fresh and hugely worthwhile offering to a new and total-life perspective. Clearly, I thought this was another B.S. do-all, flimflam book, but -- from all I've seen thus far -- it is neither."
To get an idea of what the book is about, you can download Chapter 1 for free by visiting the Law of Contribution website here. After reading this chapter, I think you'll want to get the book. And, as a special incentive, if you order the book today, you can download the audio version of the book for free right away.
Let's all make 2009 our best year ever. Let's stop thinking about ourselves so much and start thinking about others. I guarantee you your life will improve, and you'll definitely start enjoying life more.
Good luck and make it a great day!

Do the holidays leave you stressed and worn out? More than likely, one reason for your stress is your organization, or lack there of, during the holidays.
Since the holidays usually involve a lot of traveling, it's always best to have a plan of attack for both before and after your trip. A friend of mine is known as the Well Organized Woman, or WOW for short. She was recently featured in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's online Holiday Gift Guide, and I thought her article was excellent for those of you who will be traveling during this busy season. In the article, she offers some tips regarding travel preparation and packing. Some examples include:

Good luck and happy holidays to you all!

- A week before you leave, create a simple prep schedule. You want to be able to pack and prepare your house in the easiest and least stressful way possible. Complete a major and minor task each day of the week, such as purchasing a hostess gift and packing an item or two in your suitcase.
- Develop a travel exchange with a neighbor. When either of you go out of town, the other can gather mail or newspapers, take your trash to the end of the driveway, etc. Leave a copy of your itinerary and contact numbers with that same neighbor in case an emergency involving your house or pets should occur.
- Tuck a garbage bag into your suitcase and use it to keep dirty clothes (folded!) separate from clean and ready-to-be-dropped-into-the-washer clothes when you arrive home.
- To save yourself a major headache, send gifts ahead via the post office or other shipping service, already wrapped. When you arrive, you can unpack the box and place gifts under the tree.
And, if you're in need of assistance when it comes to organization, personal assistance, etc., check out the Well Organized Woman at TheWellOrganizedWoman.com.
Good luck and happy holidays to you all!

Every now and then, I come across a website that catches my attention just by the name of the site. FatLoss4Idiots.com is one of those sites. As you know, I'm in the online marketing business, and a friend of mine sent me this site because it's one of the most successful online dieting websites/products of all-time. Obviously, I had to check it out to see what they're doing that's so great.
What I found was a simple approach to an age-old problem. Losing weight isn't rocket science, and that's what this site seeks to convey. Anyone can lose weight....even idiots! :)
What will you learn from this site? First, you'll learn why most of the diets you've heard of lately don't work. Then, you'll learn about their secret that they say will start changing your body in just 11 days. The premise behind their program is Calorie Shifting, i.e, changing up your caloric intake everyday to confuse your metabolism into working overtime. (And, don't worry, they done all the legwork, so all you have to do is follow the program - it really is idiot proof)
I'm not endorsing this product, nor am I using it. I was interested in it because I wanted to learn more about how they've been marketing it. But, as I've studied their methods, I've also become a firm believer in their system, and believe if you've been trying to lose weight, you might want to give this site a look. Their program only costs $39 and it has a 60-day money back guarantee, so you've really got nothing to lose but weight.
Until later, make it a great day and happy holidays to you all!
P.S. If you do try this program, drop back by here after you've implemented it for 11 days and let us know if it worked for you. Thanks!

Since starting this blog back in 2005, I've always been of the notion that things really aren't as bad as mainstream media would have you believe. Yes, the economy appears to be in horrible shape right now. But, as I heard this morning on the morning news, we are not in a depression, and we are not in a recession. The rule of thumb is that a recession occurs when real gross domestic product (GDP) growth is negative for two or more consecutive quarters. Currently, the GDP hasn't even been negative for one quarter.
I'm not ignoring the state of affairs, but I am choosing to dig deeper to find positive stories that are going on right now. One of those stories is on the front page of CNBC.com as I write this post: Pending Home Sales Jump As Buyers Grab Bargains.
This shouldn't come as a surprise. If you've been thinking about selling your house and upgrading, now is one of the best times to buy a new house in recent memory. Here in Atlanta, home prices have skyrocketed over the last ten years to unbelievable levels. The market correction over the last year has actually brought prices back down to a level that is reasonable, but still above average.
So, to grab a statement from one of my favorite financial teachers Dave Ramsey, "The only economy that really matters is your OWN!" How are you personally doing? Don't worry about your IRA or 401K right now. They'll come back. But, if you're personally carrying a lot of debt, I recommend you spend 100% of your time working on getting yourself completely out of debt. Because, even when times are tough, if you're not in debt, you don't really have anything to worry about. You can weather the storm, AND, you can get a new home loan without any problems. Even during these tough times, banks have no problem loaning money to consumers with good credit and low amounts of debt. Which means, you can take advantage of the incredible bargains on homes right now!
You see, there is always a positive spin on every negative story. And, if you're like the 95% of Americans who are carrying way too much credit card debt (I've been there and know how you feel), I've got a suggestion. If you truly want to change your financial situation, you need to get one or both of the following programs. I have listened to them both and am currently implementing the programs. They work. They're not quick fixes and they're certainly not easy, but THEY WORK!
Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover: You can buy the book
, but I recommend you either get the book on CD
or you get Dave's Financial Peach University kit
because you need to hear Dave speak. He's a fantastic teacher.
John Cummuta's Transforming Debt Into Wealth System: Mr Cummuta's system is so simple, yet so effective. Following his program, you can be out of debt completely including your mortgage in about seven years. And, with no more money than what you're already making right now. It sounds too good to be true, but it's not. Believe me. It's the way people have always built wealth in this country until about 20 years ago when we all decided that's it's better to charge it that actually buy it.
Until later, relax, take a deep breath, make smart decisions and make it a great day...

Good morning everyone. Here are few articles I read this morning that I think are worth sharing.
The first is an article from Infotainmentnews.net offering up some advice on how to stay awake at work. It's a good read: http://www.infotainmentnews.net/how-to-stay-awake-at-work/
The second is an article that I think everyone should read, especially with the way the economy has been going this year. It's from my friend Ros Gardner's blog at NetProfitsToday.com and it's called 7 Questions To Ask Before You Buy Anything. It's focused more for people from the online marketing world, but the principles apply to everyone.

Look at this email I received in my email box today. When I saw it, I thought of the thousands upon thousands of people who still get conned into sending their personal information to these hackers. What caught me off guard with this email today was it's quality and authenticity. If I was new to the internet and had no idea that scams like this were happening, I'm sure I would have probably clicked on the link in the email at the very least.
My main reason for featuring this today is simple. Please be careful when opening and responding to emails. Most "scam" emails look and feel legitimate. Many appear to come from sites like Paypal, Bank of America, Yahoo, etc. My advice to you is to first check with Snopes.com to see if anyone else has received the same type of email. And, lastly, there isn't one verifiable instance where money "miraculously" was sent to any one's doorstep like this email says, but it's amazing how many people still fall for these type of scams.
Be careful out there. The internet is a wonderful tool, but like any other tool, in the wrong hands, it can be very dangerous.
Until later, make it a great day!

This morning, I caught a segment on the morning news by Clark Howard, who is a financial advisor/consumer watchdog/radio personality type who lives here in Atlanta. He can be annoying sometimes, but I respect his opinions/suggestions because he's always on the lookout for ways to help people save money and avoid getting ripped off.
His segment this morning was about obtaining your credit score. You've probably seen the numerous ads on tv and the Internet regarding getting your credit score and report for free. The problem with almost all of these offers is they all come with a catch. Most make you sign up for their credit monitoring service. For instance, I love the commercials for FreeCreditReport.com. You've probably seen this one:
It's funny, catchy and extremely memorable and effective. And, while the service does give you your free credit report, it also, and I quote from the site,
"When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 7-day trial period**, you will be billed $14.95 for each month that you continue your membership."
That's the part that I don't like about these types of offers. So many people sign up and think they're going to cancel, only to realize 6 months later they never did and have now paid almost $90 for the opportunity to see THEIR OWN credit report. Shouldn't you be able to see this at any time for free? After all, it is YOUR credit report.
Ok, back to the Clark Howard report. He mentioned the following site: www.Quizzle.com. It is owned by Quicken, so you can feel safe that it's not a fly-by-night scam. And, it's completely free with no catch. All you do is fill out a short form and once registered, you can view your credit report, your home's current valuation and a condensed version of your entire credit report. And, the site offers a ton of valuable calculators and sections to help you understand your report as well as your current financial situation. And again, there's no catch. It's completely free.
So, there you have it. While the above commercial is memorable, it's no wonder there's a catch for their service. There has to be because they've got to make a ton of money to pay for all those funny commercials.
Until later, make it a great day!

The upside to this percentage is that 60% of high school graduates do go to college. If you have a young child, you're probably going to need between $30,000 - $50,000 to pay for their entire college experience (tuition, room, food, transportation, etc.).
To help you save this money, I found a program online called Upromise. Here is how UPromise describes itself: Upromise helps people of all ages achieve their dreams of a college education. To do that, we've partnered with hundreds of America's leading companies to create a rewards network for Upromise members--whenever members buy something from one of our partners, they receive a portion of their eligible spending back in the form of college savings.
Here are some of the stores that are partnered with them:
- L.L. Bean
- CVS Pharmacy
- ExxonMobil
- Target
- Bloomingdale's
- Travelocity
- Land's End
- Circuit City
- Avis
- Bed Bath & Beyond
- Kroger
- Publix
- Ingles
- Check out the Upromise website for a complete list.
Good luck and make it a great day!

These are just a couple of the super snacks that are featured in an article I found on Yahoo.com. Here's a quick run-down of the 7 Super Snacks and a brief explanation of their benefits. For complete details about each snack, visit this page on Yahoo.com.
- When stressed, eat 1 cup of Low-Fat Yogurt or 2 tbsp of Mixed Nuts. Why? Because they both contain certain amino acids that are known to decrease anxiety, so instead of reaching for a soda, grab one of these two healthy treats instead.
- To increase your metabolism, drink Green Tea rather than fasting. Why? Fasting causes your body's metabolism to shut down, which makes it harder to lose weight. Green Tea increases your metabolism, which helps you burn calories faster and ultimately lose weight faster.
- When you need a pick-me-up, reach for trail mix instead of espresso. Why? Raisins provide the potassium and nuts provide magnesium, which together will give you energy and help you recover faster from exercise.
- When you need a brain-boost, reach for blueberries not ice cream. Why? Blueberries contain antioxidants, which have been shown to increase cognitive thinking.
- When you've got a cold, drink hot or cold Ginseng Tea rather than sodas. Why? Ginseng kills invading viruses by increasing your body's production of key immune cells, while caffeine in sodas actually dehydrates your body, which leaves you more vulnerable to invading viruses.
- Best quick breakfast option: Eggs and whole wheat toast over a bagel and cream cheese. Why? Eggs are packed with protein and are the #1 thing you should eat for breakfast because they set you up for a perfect day of eating.
- When you want to get in the mood, eat dark chocolate rather than drinking that third glass of wine. Drinking one or maybe two glasses of wine is okay because it does increase your sexual appetite and decreases inhibitions, but by the third glass, you're just as likely to fall asleep as you are to get it going on. The cocoa in dark chocolate contains stimulants that increase your body's sensitivity and the phenylethylamine actually will give you a natural high.
Good luck and make it a great day!

Well, not exactly, but a researcher has found four areas of the world where there are a large number of centurions (over 100). And, he recommends following some of the same habits they do, and you just might live to be over 100 yourself. The four areas are: the mountainous Barbagia region of Sardinia, an island off the coast of Italy; the Japanese island of Okinawa; a community of Seventh-day Adventists in Loma Linda, California, about 60 miles east of Los Angeles; and the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica, in Central America.
So what are some of their secrets? One that I know a lot of my friends will like is drinking a glass of red wine on a daily basis. It's full of antioxidants and has long been known to promote better health.
To me, the most important trait he mentioned is having a sense of purpose and a strong support network. I can personally vouch for this one. The Director of Marketing at my company is 73 years old, but you wouldn't know it. He looks and acts 20 years younger and is showing no signs of slowing down. As long as you have a purpose in life, enjoy what you're doing, surround yourself with friends and family and keep yourself physically active, there is no reason why we all can't live to be over 100. To read this complete article and find out more about how these people are living to be over 100, please visit this page on Yahoo.com.
One piece of advice. I've recently been following the financial advice of John Cummuta. He advocates eliminating all debt from your life including your cars and homes, and he has a proven system to do this in 5-7 years. If you're planning on living over 100, then you might want to look into John's system because you're going to need a lot of money in retirement since you're going to be living a lot longer than the average person.
Good luck and make it a great day!

From Gimundo.com -- So, you've gotta do something you are really dreading. If you're like most of us, you'll procrastinate as long as you can before doing it. But, if you follow these six tips, you just might find that it's not that hard to tackle those tasks.
Make it a great day!
- Do it first thing in the morning. A no-brainer. If you just do it first thing without giving it much thought. It'll be much easier, and it'll make the rest of your day that much better
- If you find yourself putting off a task that you try to do several times a week, try doing it EVERY day, instead. This works with many tasks. If you want to exercise a few days a week, but find yourself slacking, then just start doing it every day. It'll become a daily routine, and you won't even think about it anymore.
- Have someone keep you company. Following up tip #2, if you can't exercise alone, then find a friend to go with you. You'll keep each other on track, and it'll make the activity much more enjoyable.
- Make preparations, assemble the proper tools. One of the biggest reasons people procrastinate is because they're not prepared. Take the time to prepare, and there won't be any reason to procrastinate.
- Commit. This applies to long-term and short-term goals. One example: Every morning, write down on a piece of paper exactly what you MUST accomplish today, and commit to it and do it.
- Remind yourself that finishing a dreaded task is tremendously energizing. Remember how great it feels to finally finish a dreaded task? Just remembering is motivation to do it.
Make it a great day!

For those of you who are golf fans or used to watch the Masters golf tournament years ago, then you recognize the name Ken Venturi. Mr. Venturi was CBS' lead golf analyst for years, and he was a very successful golfer himself, winning the US Open, and almost winning the Masters as an amateur.
I was reading an article about him this morning in GolfWeek magazine, and one statement he made really made an impression on me. He said that the key to his success is always making sure that whatever he does would make his mother and father proud. As I thought about it, it made even more sense. If you're doing something that you know your mother and father would not approve of, then no matter how much success you have, something will always be missing.
Obviously, this is just another way of saying, you need to do the right thing, but it's a very creative and powerful way to live your life. And, hey, there's nothing better than knowing that you've made your mom or dad proud, right?
Good luck and make it a great day!

If you're like me, when you check your email every morning, the first thing you're met with are emails touting the latest and greatest sexual enhancement drugs, get rich quick schemes, weight loss dream pills and many other wonderful products that spammers love to promote. Have you had enough?
If you answered yes, then I have a solution for you. For those of you who've been reading my blog for quite some time, you know that I don't normally post articles about products. However, a friend of mine recommended a product to me the other day that I fell in love with. It's called Spam Arrest and it truly is a necessity for everyone this day and age.
Here's how it works: When someone sends you an email, before the email is sent, the sender receives an email that asks them to verify they're a human. It does this simply by asking them to verify they sent the email. While this isn't going to stop other humans who are spamming you one email at a time, it will stop all the automated spam that somehow seems to by-pass your email software's spam filters since the spamming software can't verify the message it sent. Click here to see a demo of how this works.
And, the other reason I'm recommending this to you is because they have a 30 free trial, which I personally am taking advantage of. Here are the details of the free trial directly from the website:

Nothing will make you feel better than committing a random act of kindness, and your act will make someone else feel the same way. Pay it forward - it's the only way to live. If you're stuck trying to think of ideas, here are some I came up with to help you get started:
I hope I've given you some ideas. Now, let's all go out and help someone have a great day!

- Tip someone who is not expecting it – Toll Booth Operator, Fast Food Drive-thru Clerk, Garbage Handlers – You get the idea – It’ll make their day and yours
- Say “Good Morning” to someone at work you normally don’t talk to
- Call a relative or friend you haven’t spoken to in a long time just to say "Hi"
- If you see some trash on the sidewalk or in front of your office or favorite restaurant, pick it up and throw it away – If we all did this on a regular basis, litter would be a thing of the past
- Hand-write a note or thank you letter to someone who has helped you get where you are today – Don’t email or type the letter – Take out a pen and write
- Donating clothes is always a great idea – A twist to this act – If you see the same homeless person near your home or work, stop and give them one of your jackets, shirts, blanket, etc.
- If you’re searching for the perfect gift to give your parents, grandparents or friends, why not sponsor an eye surgery for a blind person in a third-world country in your friends honor – Think out of the box – Who can you help in your friends honor...
- Send your favorite elementary school teacher a “thank you” card for helping you become who you are today
- Open the door for someone at a public place
- Tip a great waiter/waitress 40% every now and then or write something nice to them on the back of the bill complimenting them
- Slip the busboy at your favorite restaurant a $20 bill (or whatever you can afford)
- If you know your neighbor is going through hard times (health problems, death in family, etc.), offer to cut their grass, sweep their drive or go to the grocery store for them for free
- Write a personal note to the boss/manager of an employee who went out of their way to help you
- Utilize the telephone – Have a big family? Organize a conference call with everyone
- If possible, adopt a dog or cat from a shelter
- Offer to walk an elderly couples dog
I hope I've given you some ideas. Now, let's all go out and help someone have a great day!
