Whether you are a golf fan or not, if you missed watching the Ryder Cup this past weekend, you missed one of the best sporting events in the history of golf. The last time the U.S. won the Ryder Cup was 1999 when Justin Leonard made an incredible putt from about 45 feet.
This time, even without the world's greatest player Tiger Woods, the United States beat the European squad convincingly 16 1/2 - 11 1/2. It was an incredible three days. All of the U.S. players contributed to the win, but one player really made a name for himself. His name is Boo Weekley, and if you're not familiar with him, you need to get to know Boo. Boo's a self-described redneck from Milton, FL who loves to hunt and fish more than play golf. But, he does enjoy playing golf, and he's one heck of a good player.
In this year's win, Boo became the unofficial mascot, spokesman, cheerleader and comedian for the American team. From the beginning, he started egging on the crowd, and by the end, he had won over not only his teammates, but everyone in attendance at the event.
Here's a video I found online that will give you a look at who Boo Weekley really is. One thing you'll hear Boo say in this video is he's never met a stranger. I think this is a great lesson we all can learn from him. He treats everybody with respect and enjoys hearing their story.
One moment that the camera's and microphones caught during the matches that really stuck in my head was right after Boo had just won his singles match yesterday. As his wife came over to congratulate him and was hugging him and saying how great he played, etc., Boo quietly said, "Thanks, now we gotta go pull everyone else through." That's a team player. That's the type of person I want on my team whether it's work or play.
Congratulations again to the U.S. team for a job well done!
Until later, make it a great day.

Wow, this little 12-year old is one lucky girl. She's obviously meant to do something big with her life, because she should have been killed. Grace Bergere and her cousin climbed to the top of their Manhattan home's rooftop, and Grace accidentally fell into the chimney and fell 14-stories to the bottom. Luckily, the bottom was covered with about two-feet of soot, which cushioned her fall. She escaped with some minor injuries, but she's going to be okay. In this story from Gimundo.com, a young thief snatched a purse from the wrong person. A young female snatched 78-year old Pearline Williamson's purse while she was shopping in London. But, Pearline chased the woman down and confronted her. The girl tried to act like she hadn't taken it, so Pearline "shook the life out of her", and the woman gave the purse back. Now that's one tough grandma. To read the full story, go to this page on Gimundo.com.

I have to give Diane a lot of credit for this interview because he's not exactly the easiest person to interview. He's pretty bland, but he's definitely one lucky man. Enjoy!

From Gimundo.com - Wow, the next time I complain about going to the gym, I'll remember this guy.
At one hundred and one years of age, Buster Martin sports a bushy white beard, and more than a few wrinkles. But while most men of his age would content themselves with afternoon naps, Early Bird dinners, and the occasional game of Bingo at the nursing home, Martin has considerably more on his plate.
The former Army physical trainer has just entered the London Marathon, a grueling 42.195 km (26 miles and 385 yards) annual event, and one of the world's top international races. Martin's goal may sound like wishful thinking, but don't be so sure: He recently completed a half-marathon in a little over five hours – not bad at all for an athlete who could be the grandfather of most of his competitors (and he just might be - the man has 17 children!).
That's impressive to say the least. To read the entire story, please go to this page on Gimundo.com.

This is a great story...
First, Toby, a 2 1/2 year old Golden Retriever who was rescued from a garbage bin as a puppy saved his masters' life. From Yahoo.com -- "When Debbie Parkhurst choked on a piece of apple at her Maryland home, her dog jumped in, landing hard on her chest and forcing the morsel to pop out of her throat. "...Parkhurst suggested her pooch's Heimlich maneuver might have been guided by divine intervention.
"That's what our veterinarian said," she said. "He wasn't making a joke; he's very spiritual, and now I have to agree with him."
Second, Winnie the cat, saved her family by waking them up when their house was being poisoned by carbon monoxide. "...a gas-driven pump being used to remove flood waters from their basement in New Castle, Ind., last March malfunctioned, spreading carbon monoxide through the house. By the time Winnie moved into rescue mode, the couple's 14-year-old son, Michael, was already unconscious.
"Winnie jumped on the bed and was clawing at me, with a kind of angry meow," Cathy Keesling said. "When I woke up I felt like a T-bar had hit me across the head."
State police and sheriff's officers responding to her 911 call said the family was only minutes from death, judging by the amount of poisonous gas in the house."
To read the complete story about Toby and Winnie and five humans who were also honored, please visit this page on Yahoo.com.
Good luck and make it a great day!
