100 Smartest Diet Tips Ever

Yahoo.com has a list of the 100 Smartest Diet Tips Ever. They divide the tips into different categories. Here are the categories and a few tips from each:

I Can Only Handle One Diet Change Right Now. What Should I Do?
  • Eat at least two servings of a fruit or veggie at every meal.
  • Start eating a big breakfast. It helps you eat fewer total calories throughout the day.
Are there Any Easy Tricks to Help Me Cut Calories?
  • Eating out? Halve it, and bag the rest. A typical restaurant entree has 1,000 to 2,000 calories, not even counting the bread, appetizer, beverage, and dessert.
  • Instead of whole milk, switch to 1 percent. If you drink one 8-oz glass a day, you'll lose 5 lb in a year.
  • Use mustard instead of mayo.
  • Limit alcohol to weekends.
How Can I Eat More Veggies?
  • Have a V8 or tomato juice instead of a Diet Coke at 3 pm.
  • Really hate veggies? Relax. If you love fruits, eat plenty of them; they are just as healthy (especially colorful ones such as oranges, mangoes, and melons).
  • Mix three different cans of beans and some diet Italian dressing. Eat this three-bean salad all week.
Can You Give Me a Mantra that will Help Me Stick to My Diet?
  • "I'll ride the wave. My cravings will disappear after 10 minutes if I turn my attention elsewhere."
  • "It's more stressful to continue being fat than to stop overeating."
I Eat Healthy, but I'm Overweight. What Mistakes Could I Be Making without Realizing It?
  • Skipping meals. Many healthy eaters "diet by day and binge by night."
  • Ignoring "Serving Size" on the Nutrition Facts panel.
  • Snacking on bowls of nuts. Nuts are healthy but dense with calories. Put those bowls away, and use nuts as a garnish instead of a snack.
What Can I Eat for a Healthy Low-Cal Dinner if I Don't Want to Cook?
  • The smallest fast-food burger (with mustard and ketchup, not mayo) and a no-cal beverage. Then at home, have an apple or baby carrots.
  • Heat up a can of good soup.
  • Cereal, fruit, and fat-free milk makes a good meal anytime.
What's Your Best Advice for Avoiding those Extra Holiday Pounds?
  • Remember, EAT before you meet. Have this small meal before you go to any parties: a hardboiled Egg, Apple, and a Thirst quencher (water, seltzer, diet soda, tea).
  • At a buffet? Eating a little of everything guarantees high calories. Decide on three or four things, only one of which is high in calories. Save that for last so there's less chance of overeating.
  • Give it away! After company leaves, give away leftover food to neighbors, doormen, or delivery people, or take it to work the next day.
How Can I Control a Raging Sweet Tooth?
  • Once in a while, have a lean, mean salad for lunch or dinner, and save the meal's calories for a full dessert.
  • Try these smart little sweets: sugar-free hot cocoa, frozen red grapes, fudgsicles, sugar-free gum, Nutri-Grain chocolate fudge twists, Tootsie Rolls, and hard candy.
  • Try 2 weeks without sweets. It's amazing how your cravings vanish.
How Can I Conquer My Downfall: Bingeing at Night?
  • Eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The large majority of people who struggle with night eating are those who skip meals or don't eat balanced meals during the day. This is a major setup for overeating at night.
  • Brush your teeth right after dinner to remind you: No more food.
  • Eating late at night won't itself cause weight gain. It's how many calories—not when you eat them—that counts.
How Can I Reap Added Health Benefits from My Dieting?
  • Fat-free isn't always your best bet. Research has found that none of the lycopene or alpha- or beta-carotene that fight cancer and heart disease is absorbed from salads with fat-free dressing. Only slightly more is absorbed with reduced-fat dressing; the most is absorbed with full-fat dressing. But remember, use your dressing in moderate amounts.
  • Next time you're feeling wiped out in late afternoon, forgo that cup of coffee and reach for a cup of yogurt instead. The combination of protein, carbohydrate, and fat in an 8-ounce serving of low-fat yogurt will give you a sense of fullness and well-being that coffee can't match, as well as some vital nutrients. If you haven't eaten in 3 to 4 hours, your blood glucose levels are probably dropping, so eating a small amount of nutrient-rich food will give your brain and your body a boost.
Eating Less Isn't Enough—What Exercising Tips Will Help Me Shed Pounds?
  • Overeating is not the result of exercise. Vigorous exercise won't stimulate you to overeat. It's just the opposite. Exercise at any level helps curb your appetite immediately following the workout.
  • Drinking too few can hamper your weight loss efforts. That's because dehydration can slow your metabolism by 3 percent, or about 45 fewer calories burned a day, which in a year could mean weighing 5 pounds more. The key to water isn't how much you drink, it's how frequently you drink it. Small amounts sipped often work better than 8 ounces gulped down at once.
How Can I Manage My Emotional Eating and Get the Support I Need?
  • Sitting at a computer may help you slim down. When researchers at Brown University School of Medicine put 92 people on online weight loss programs for a year, those who received weekly e-mail counseling shed 5 1/2 more pounds than those who got none. Counselors provided weekly feedback on diet and exercise logs, answered questions, and cheered them on. Most major online diet programs offer many of these features.
These are just a few of the 100 tips. To read them all, please go to this page on Yahoo.com.

Good luck and make it a great day!

Has The Tomb Of Jesus Been Found?

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past couple of days, you've heard about the documentary directed by James Cameron (Titantic director) that the Discovery channel is going to be airing.

From Yahoo! -- "The burial site of Jesus has been found and suggests he had a wife and son, according to highly sensitive claims in a documentary by "Titanic" director James Cameron and Israel-born Simcha Jacobovici.

The claims inject controversy into the issue of resurrection central to Christianity and, if accurate, could reignite questions about Jesus' earthy family life popularized in the book "The Da Vinci Code."

Cameron and Jacobovici, an award-winning documentary director, said their research suggested Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had a son, Judah.

"DNA analysis conducted at one of the world's foremost molecular genetics laboratories, as well as studies by leading scholars, suggest a 2,000-year-old Jerusalem tomb could have once held the remains of Jesus of Nazareth and his family," a statement from Discovery, which will broadcast the documentary, said."

Bus Driver Leaps Off Bus to Save Girl

From HappyNews.com -- "A city bus driver is lauded as a hero after he leapt off his bus and snatched a 3-year-old girl from traffic. The bus security cameras show the girl getting off the bus with a cheery ''Bye!'' and walking straight into traffic on a busy street. Chris Leslie, 38, is pictured streaking out the door after her.

One view from the bus camera shows a car making a rapid stop directly in front of Leslie and the girl last week.

''As I grabbed her, I looked as I pulled her back and luckily the car in the next lane, a pickup, had stopped,'' he said. ''It was probably the first time in my life I was in the right place at the right time.''

The girl's mother was busy in the bus with another child in a stroller and the toddler didn't heed a command to wait. Leslie said the mother and daughter were still hugging at the bus stop when he pulled away."

Sugarland - Settlin'

From time to time, I add videos to songs that I think will both entertain and inspire you. Sugarland's new song, Settlin', is that kind of song. The song is encouraging everyone to not settle for anything less than everything. In other words, don't settle for anything less than your best. If you do, you'll find you missed out on the life you are destined to live.

Make it a great day and enjoy the video!

Read The Bible In One Year

Have you ever tried to read the Bible from cover to cover? Many of us start, but either get side-tracked or find that getting through some of the Old Testament books can be challenging. A friend of mine sent me a website a while back that is an excellent way to read the Bible in one year. The website is www.oneyearbibleonline.com. Every day, you'll read passages from the Old and New Testament as well as from Proverbs and Psalms. This way, you'll read the entire Bible in one year, and you'll get the New and Old Testament perspective everyday.

Give the site a visit. Whether you're Christian, Jewish or none of the above, everyone will benefit from reading the Bible. There's a reason the Bible is called the greatest book ever written. Find out why by reading it.

Good luck and make it a great day!

Colossal Squid Caught Off Antarctica

From the Discovery Channel -- "A fishing crew has caught a colossal squid that could weigh a half-ton and prove to be the biggest specimen ever landed, a fisheries official said Thursday.

The squid, weighing an estimated 990 lbs and about 39 feet long, took two hours to land in Antarctic waters, New Zealand Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton said."

"I can assure you that this is going to draw phenomenal interest. It is truly amazing," said Dr. Steve O'Shea, a squid expert at the Auckland University of Technology. If calamari rings were made from the squid they would be the size of tractor tires, he added." To read the complete article, please go to this page on the Discovery Channel's website.

Wow. That's one big plate of calamari!

We Are Making a Difference in Iraq

Here's a great story of how one soldier is making a difference in Iraq. The story is courtesy of HappyNews.com -- "Staff Sgt. James Lee looked like a proud father. A group of Iraqi Strategic Infrastructure Brigade soldiers, who Lee has been helping to train for six months, huddled around him after showing off their warrior skills during a demonstration for Maj. Gen. Benjamin Mixon, commander Multi-National Division North and 25th Infantry Division."

"The 1st SIB is charged with protecting the oil infrastructure here, including various pipelines, said Lt. Col. Jack Pritchard, commander 3rd Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. Achieving Iraq's full oil production capacity is a key to its economic recovery and rebuilding the refineries, wells and pipelines and keeping them safe from insurgent attacks is crucial.

Lee and his fellow 3-7 Soldiers have been working with the 1st SIB four days a week to improve their defense of strategic facilities."

And, here's the best part of this article:

"The SIB has always seemed happy not just to have us around but to learn from us," said Pvt. Balladine, 3-7. "They're squared away and usually eager to show us what they can do."

In an effort to get the SIB to train on their own, Lee has encouraged leaders to emerge. While unsure of themselves at first, Lee said that a few soldiers have taken charge and are training the group on their own."

To read the complete article, please go to this page on HappyNews.com.

Staff Sgt. Lee is one soldier who is doing his job and keeping us safe while training others to keep themselves safe. That's the way it supposed to be. Thank you, Sgt. Lee.

Make it a great day!

Some Southern Humor To Brighten Your Day

Kentucky -- The owner of a golf course in Kentucky was confused about paying an invoice, so he decided to ask his secretary for some mathematical help.

He called her into his office and said, "You graduated from the University of Kentucky and I need some help. If I were to give you $20,000, minus 14%, how much would you take off?"

The secretary thought a moment, and then replied, "Everything but my earrings." You gotta love those Kentucky women.

Tennessee -- A Tennessee State trooper pulled over a pickup on I-65. The trooper asked, "Got any ID?"

The driver replied, "Bout whut?"

South Carolina -- A man in South Carolina had a flat tire, pulled off on the side of the road, and proceeded to put a bouquet of flowers in front of the car and one behind it. Then he got back in the car to wait.

A passerby studied the scene as he drove by and was so curious he turned around and went back. He asked the fellow what the problem was.

The man replied, "I have a flat tire." The passerby asked, "But what's with the flowers?"

The man responded, "When you break down they tell you to put flares in the front and flares in the back! I never did understand it neither."

Newly Released Footage Shows JFK's Last Moments

While the assasination of President Kennedy was not positive news, this video is fascinating, and it's interesting to watch because all we've ever seen is the actual shooting footage rather than the moments before. Watching this video should inspire us all to enjoy every moment of our lives because we never know what's going to happen - not even 90 seconds from now...

From iFilm.com -- "This newly-discovered home movie of the fateful Kennedy motorcade was recently donated to The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. The photographer, George Jefferies, filmed President and Mrs. Kennedy on Main Street at Lamar in downtown Dallas less than 90 seconds before the assassination. Secret Service Agent Clint Hill, assigned to protect Jackie Kennedy, can be seen riding on the left rear bumper. The donor, Wayne Graham, is the son-in-law of Mr. Jefferies."

Rescuer Credits Dog With Saving Climbers

From Yahoo.com -- "Three climbers who tumbled off a ledge on Mount Hood were taken away in an ambulance after they hiked down much of the state's highest peak with their rescuers — and a dog who may have saved their lives."

"Rescuers using an electronic locating device found the three climbers and their black Labrador, Velvet, on Monday morning in the White River Canyon, where they had holed up overnight at about 7,400 feet, officials said. The crew hiked with them down the east flank of the 11,239-foot mountain; on the way down, the climbers got into a tracked snow vehicle that took them to the ambulance.

"The dog probably saved their lives" by lying across them during the cold night, said Erik Brom, a member of the Portland Mountain Rescue team. He described the wind in the canyon as "hellacious."

The two women left the snow vehicle first, followed by Bryant and the dog. The three climbers boarded the ambulance, and Velvet leapt in after them."

4 Corporate Lessons

Corporate Lesson 1

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel." After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?" "It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies. "Great!" the husband says, "Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"

Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Corporate Lesson 2

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish." "Me first! Me first!" says the admin. clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas , driving a speedboat, without a care in the world ." Poof! She's gone. "Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii , relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life." Poof! He's gone. "OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

Corporate Lesson 3

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A rabbit asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?" The crow answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.

Corporate Lesson 4

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, but I haven't got the energy." "Well, why don't you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bulls*&#@ might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

All of these are funny and absolutely true. Take them to heart, and you'll do okay in the corporate world.

Good luck today. Make it a great day!

The Real Phil Mickelson

First, I want to congratulate Phil for winning the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Phil blew away the field shooting a final round 66 to win the tournament by five shots. This is Phil's 30th career victory, which puts him in select company as he now has more career wins at age 36 than Lee Trevino, Johnny Miller and Ben Crenshaw had in their entire careers.

I have been a fan of Phil Mickelson's for a very long time. He's one of those golfers that I've pulled for for years and have always assumed he was a a nice guy considering how polite and nice he seems on television. Back in 2004, I was at the Masters on Sunday when he won his first Masters title. My wife and I were positioned to the left of the tee on #10, and after Phil teed off, he walked down the left side of the fairway passing directly by us. We both smiled and gave him a "Go Phil", and he did something that many professional athletes don't do, he smiled, tipped his hat and said, "Thank you and thanks for coming out." That may not sound like much, but try that same scenario with many other professional athletes while they're in the heat of the battle, and you're more likely to get ignored, glared at, or at best, a quick nod.

But, one nice "thank you" does not necessarily mean that the real Phil Mickelson is a nice guy. It means he's polite and respects the fact that the fans are as much a part of a golf tournament as he is.

What does make him a nice guy is a story I just read in this week's Golf World. The title of the article is, "Conrad Dobler's Favorite Golfer." Unless you are a die-hard historian of professional football, you probably have never heard of Dobler... Neither had I until I read this article. Conrad was once called the "dirtiest player in the NFL".

Because NFL players of the distant past did not make that much money, and the NFL's disability plan doesn't amount to much, Conrad lives a nice, but not too extravagant lifestyle considering he's had numerous surgeries on both knees. But, Conrad's entire life changed back on July 4, 2001. He and his wife Joy and their six children were relaxing while waiting for friends to come over for the holiday. His wife Joy was in their hammock and accidentally fell out of the hammock and couldn't feel anything. She's been a quadriplegic ever since. After numerous surgeries, doctor visits, etc., Conrad has had to downsize and sell almost all of his assets to keep the family afloat while paying for Joy's rehabilitation.

Enter Phil Mickelson. Phil's lawyer, Glenn Cohen, called Conrad up one day and told him that Phil had become aware of his situation and wanted to pay for his daughter Holli's college education. Conrad couldn't believe it because he had never met Phil and still hasn't to this day. Conrad asked Cohen why Phil was doing this, and his response was, "Because he can."

Phil does stay in touch with Holli who is now a sophomore at Miami of Ohio. She waits tables and has a heavy load of classes and currently has a 3.8 GPA. The first year, Phil sent $20,000, and he has promised cost of living increases every year promising $22,000 and then $24,000.

This random act of kindness by Phil has changed the lives of more than just Holli. It has made Conrad a better person, and it's given Joy the will to walk again. She's already made great strides and hopes to one day get out of the wheelchair for good. Phil has invited the entire family to the Memorial Tournament in May, and the family can't wait to meet him in person. As Joy says, "If there's anything he's missing in his life, it's a set of wings. He's an angel. And if I can when I see him for the first time, I'm going to go up and give him a big hug."

BECAUSE HE CAN! That is the real Phil Mickelson.

To me, this story embodies what it means to be successful. Being successful means having the ability to help others "because you can." There are so many people who could help others, but they choose not to. I'd like to challenge you to look for areas in your everyday life where you can perform a random act of kindness. You'll be surprised how many situations come up where you can help....

If you'd like to share your random acts of kindness with our readers, drop us a note on the comments page.

Good luck today and make it a great one!

Prehistoric Romeo and Juliet Discovered

This couple seems to have defied the saying, "till death do us part..."

From Yahoo.com -- They died young and, by the looks of it, in love. Two 5,000-year-old skeletons found locked in an embrace near the city where Shakespeare set the star-crossed tale "Romeo and Juliet" have sparked theories the remains of a far more ancient love story have been found.

Archaeologists unearthed the skeletons dating back to the late Neolithic period outside Mantua, 25 miles south of Verona, the city of Shakespeare's story of doomed love.

Buried between 5,000 and 6,000 years ago, the prehistoric pair are believed to have been a man and a woman and are thought to have died young, because their teeth were found intact, said Elena Menotti, the archaeologist who led the dig.

Pete Sampras Returning to Tennis

For those of you who miss watching Pistol Pete play professional tennis, you'll finally get an opportunity to see him play again, albeit against a little bit older competition. Pete's going to be playing in the Outback Champions Series at Boston University from May 2-6. The Outback Champions Series is open to professional players aged 30 and older.

"I just want to see how it goes," Sampras said in a telephone interview Monday. "I don't want to commit to a bunch of them, just see how I enjoy the week, the playing. I didn't want to commit to something I wasn't 100 percent sure about."

The series consists of five events, and the Boston stop is the second in the series. The last time Pete Sampras played competitive tennis in Boston, his doubles team notched the only victory for the United States in the Davis Cup quarterfinals against Australia in 1999.

Sampras, "After a couple of years of that you kind of wake up as the mornings go on feeling you need to do a little bit more and feel more fulfilled," he said. "Getting up in the morning to play golf is fun, but you miss a little bit of the structured life you had."

One reason he's returning is his relationship with series co-founder Jim Courier, who also will be in the eight-man field in Boston along with John McEnroe. Total prize money is $142,000. To qualify for the series, now in its second full year, a player must have reached a Grand Slam singles final, been ranked in the top five, or played singles on a Davis Cup championship team. What makes this tour interesting is the big names who participate. In addition to Sampras, the tour also features Mats Wilander, Todd Martin, Thomas Muster, Pat Cash and Michael Chang to name a few.

"I almost in a way wish he came back and played (regularly)," McEnroe said Monday night after attending the Rangers' hockey game in New York. "I know he sort of in a way wants to preserve what he's already done. But no one can take that away."

Sampras said he won't return to the regular tennis tour but is ready for the competition again although it's "nothing as intense as it used to be."

You can read the full article by going to this page on HappyNews.com.

Good luck today and make it a great one!

Lauren's Travels Begin

Good morning everyone,

As I mentioned a few weeks back, a friend of mine named Lauren is joining the Peach Corps, and she is going to be sharing her experiences with us periodically throughout the year. She is about to begin her amazing journey, and this is her first entry.

The pictures below are from her time she spent in Ghana. I hope reading about Lauren and what she's doing in her life will help inspire us all to be better human beings. For those of us who live in the United States, we take so many things for granted. Hopefully, reading her updates will remind us all of how fortunate we are, but also inspire us to make a difference in the world rather than just living in it. If you would like to wish Lauren a safe journey, you can post a comment on the site by using this form. Good luck today and make it a great one!

"For as long as I can remember I have longed to travel the world, help where I am needed, and experience other cultures. International volunteer work is my passion. I graduated from nursing school last May. I have been working on a pediatric floor at a hospital in Georgia since then. I went to Ghana, West Africa from September - November this past fall with Cross Cultural Solutions. There, I volunteered in a children’s ward and ran free blood pressure clinics in twelve villages.

My experience there was very fulfilling because I was able to focus on my favorite aspect of medicine, public health. I believe everyone is capable of improving his or her own health when empowered through health education. For instance, most people I met in Ghana with extreme hypertension had no idea that diet and lifestyle play a major role in determining blood pressure. After learning to decrease their salt and palm oil intake, we saw improvements in there blood pressure, which really validated our clinics.

In the U.S., we often take for granted internet access, books, and our many sources of education. We are lucky that we live in a country where this information is so readily available. Also, I believe that healthcare is a basic human right; sadly, I have seen how few people in developing countries actually have access to health care. In countries where there is insufficient money to fund basic healthcare, the next best thing is to provide them with education on basic health promotion and disease prevention. My trip to Ghana was life-changing in that it changed my perspective and showed me how loving and generous people can be, even when stripped of their health, security, and worldly possessions.

In one week I will be embarking on a new journey. I will be serving in the Peace Corps in Honduras for 27 months. I am part of the Health Program and have been nominated for HIV/AIDS education and child survival. I am hoping to pursue my passion for public health by educating Hondurans on how to improve their own health when access to healthcare is limited. I will be writing articles for Positive Pelham as often as I am able to get on the internet. I look forward to sharing about my life in Honduras, and I hope you enjoy experiencing Honduran culture along with me!

In Peace,

Lauren"

Tony Stewart Quietly Helping Drivers In Need

From HappyNews.com --

"Tony Stewart is one of several top drivers who say they would contribute money from their own pockets if NASCAR officials established a fund to help retired drivers. Stewart isn't waiting for them to act.

Since joining NASCAR's top series in 1999, Stewart quietly has handed out money to lesser-known racers who have fallen on hard times. It's his attempt to pay forward the favors the racing community granted him early in his career.

"When I started running midgets and sprint cars full time, that was my job," Stewart said. ''But there's no health benefits. If you get hurt, you're (done), basically. So a $5,000 hospital bill for one of these guys, it could take you three weeks to try to make that. Let alone you've got to have your travel costs still, you've got to pay your rent, make your groceries.''

The two-time Cup champion also donates memorabilia to fundraising auctions through the foundation.

Still, sometimes when Stewart hears about a driver in need, he simply handles it himself, whether it's leaning on a safety equipment manufacturer to replace a grass-roots racer's cracked helmet for free or paying off a four-figure medical bill.

Stewart also has provided financial help to Red Farmer, a member of racing's famed "Alabama Gang" who survived Davey Allison's fatal helicopter crash in 1993 and still tries to make money racing short tracks in his 70s.

"Red's like a family member to us, and it's hard for him sometimes to go race," Stewart said. ''And every now and then, a couple bucks here and there is helping him get to the racetrack. That's the stuff that makes it worthwhile for us."

Coca-Cola took a different approach with their commercials for this year's Super Bowl. This commerical in particular was a great one, and it's message was just what America needed to see. You give a little love and it all comes back to you. You're gonna be remembered for things that you say and do. Well said Coca-Cola!

Make it a great day!

Tips For Brewing Better Coffee

If you're like me, you enjoy a good cup of coffee every morning. But I must admit, I still have trouble making a perfect pot of coffee every time. Sometimes it's too strong and other times it's too weak. Happynews.com has a neat article providing tips on how to brew better coffee. Here are some of their tips:
  • Coffee should be stored in an opaque, airtight ceramic or glass container and not refrigerated or frozen. The moisture of the refrigerator or freezer will deteriorate your coffee.
  • A good rule of thumb for making coffee is two rounded tablespoons of coffee per cup of water.
  • The optimal water temperature for brewing coffee is 92 - 96 degrees.
  • After coffee is brewed, the filter should be removed immediately. The coffee that continues to drip from the filter will be bitter and can ruin your fresh pot of coffee.
These are just a few of their tips. To read them all, please go to this page on HappyNews.com.

Dog Reunites With Family After 6 Years

For all of you dog lovers out there, this story is for you. It's courtesy of Myway.com --

"Cujo was a frisky 7-year-old when he sneaked out of his owners' south St. Louis yard in July 2000. Now, thinner and grayer and with a tale that would be fascinating if only he could tell it, the golden retriever is back with the Barczewski family.

"It's a miracle," Noreen Barczewski, 41, said at Friday's reunion. "We found him!"

Six years and a side trip to Columbia can do a lot to a dog, but it was unmistakably Cujo. There was the heart-shaped patch of white on his forehead, the white fur on his toes, his manner of greeting people by rubbing against them cat-style.

Cujo's homecoming was orchestrated by Dirk's Fund, a golden retriever rescue group that has found homes for more than 900 dogs in the past decade."

Make it a great day!
