Support The Troops - Send Them A Free Gift

I've been watching the HBO mini-series Generation Kill, which follows a platoon of Marines as they make their way through Iraq at the beginning of the Iraq conflict. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you watch it as it's a rare look at what our soldiers are facing right now in Iraq.

HBO and it's partners have teamed up together to send the troops some specific items that the troops have requested. They're items such as band-aids, lotions, beef jerkey, magazines, etc.

If you go to this page on HBO's website, you can send the troops one of the items for free. There's no catch. Just visit the page for complete details. This is only going to be up for a limited time as they'll need to send the items over very soon. Don't miss this opportunity to help our troops.

Thanks and make it a great day!

Sisters' Babies Are Actually Siblings And Not Cousins

Sometimes, a story comes along that makes you go, huh? This is one of those stories. It seems that one sister (Darla) and her husband were having trouble having a child, so they had her eggs implanted into her sister (Dana). But, they both ended up getting pregnant, and Darla had twins and Dana had one baby. And, since they all three came from Darla's eggs, they're actually triplets. Sometimes life is definitely stranger than fiction.

Make it a great day!

The Full Story of Christian The Lion

You've probably heard the story of Christian the Lion. He was a lion cub that a couple of men had purchased from Harrods back in 1969. They took him home and took care of him until he was too big for them to handle. They then released him into the wild, and here's video footage of the story including the reunion with Christian in the wild. Enjoy and make it a great day!

Go here to read about the new book called A Lion Called Christian: The True Story of the Remarkable Bond between Two Friends and a Lion.

UPromise - A Product I'm Proud To Endorse

I don't have any children, but if I did, I'm sure that one of my biggest fears would be, "How am I going to save enough money to send my kids to college?" In doing some research online, it looks like about 40% of high school graduates don't go to college. Their biggest reason why is lack of money for college.

The upside to this percentage is that 60% of high school graduates do go to college. If you have a young child, you're probably going to need between $30,000 - $50,000 to pay for their entire college experience (tuition, room, food, transportation, etc.).

To help you save this money, I found a program online called Upromise. Here is how UPromise describes itself: Upromise helps people of all ages achieve their dreams of a college education. To do that, we've partnered with hundreds of America's leading companies to create a rewards network for Upromise members--whenever members buy something from one of our partners, they receive a portion of their eligible spending back in the form of college savings.

Here are some of the stores that are partnered with them:
  • L.L. Bean
  • CVS Pharmacy
  • ExxonMobil
  • Target
  • Bloomingdale's
  • Travelocity
  • Land's End
  • Circuit City
  • Avis
  • Bed Bath & Beyond
  • Kroger
  • Publix
  • Ingles
  • Check out the Upromise website for a complete list.
And, the list goes on and on. It's very rare when I promote a product or service on the site, but I was very impressed with this company. It's a great program with a great cause. If you have children and want to save money towards their college fund, UPromise can help. Join for free today.

Good luck and make it a great day!

7 Super Snacks That Have Healing Powers

Did you know that eating blueberries will help you ace that next test? Or, that green tea will increase your metabolism and help you lose weight faster?

These are just a couple of the super snacks that are featured in an article I found on Yahoo.com. Here's a quick run-down of the 7 Super Snacks and a brief explanation of their benefits. For complete details about each snack, visit this page on Yahoo.com.
  1. When stressed, eat 1 cup of Low-Fat Yogurt or 2 tbsp of Mixed Nuts. Why? Because they both contain certain amino acids that are known to decrease anxiety, so instead of reaching for a soda, grab one of these two healthy treats instead.
  2. To increase your metabolism, drink Green Tea rather than fasting. Why? Fasting causes your body's metabolism to shut down, which makes it harder to lose weight. Green Tea increases your metabolism, which helps you burn calories faster and ultimately lose weight faster.
  3. When you need a pick-me-up, reach for trail mix instead of espresso. Why? Raisins provide the potassium and nuts provide magnesium, which together will give you energy and help you recover faster from exercise.
  4. When you need a brain-boost, reach for blueberries not ice cream. Why? Blueberries contain antioxidants, which have been shown to increase cognitive thinking.
  5. When you've got a cold, drink hot or cold Ginseng Tea rather than sodas. Why? Ginseng kills invading viruses by increasing your body's production of key immune cells, while caffeine in sodas actually dehydrates your body, which leaves you more vulnerable to invading viruses.
  6. Best quick breakfast option: Eggs and whole wheat toast over a bagel and cream cheese. Why? Eggs are packed with protein and are the #1 thing you should eat for breakfast because they set you up for a perfect day of eating.
  7. When you want to get in the mood, eat dark chocolate rather than drinking that third glass of wine. Drinking one or maybe two glasses of wine is okay because it does increase your sexual appetite and decreases inhibitions, but by the third glass, you're just as likely to fall asleep as you are to get it going on. The cocoa in dark chocolate contains stimulants that increase your body's sensitivity and the phenylethylamine actually will give you a natural high.
Again, for a more detailed description of each of these super snacks, please visit this page on Yahoo.com.

Good luck and make it a great day!

Kansas City Chiefs' TE Gonzalez Saves Man's Life In Restaurant

Do you know the Heimlich maneuver? I know how to do it, but after reading this story, I'm going to brush up on the technique.

Last Thursday night, Kansas City Chiefs' tight end Tony Gonzalez was having dinner in a restaurant with his family when a man sitting directly behind him started choking on a piece of meat. Everybody else in the restaurant was just starring at the guy, but Tony jumped up and performed the Heimlich maneuver and dislodged the piece of meat as the man was turning blue.

Everything turned out fine for the man, and Tony is being praised as a hero. To read the complete story, please go to this page on Yahoo.com.

Make it a great day and brush up on life-saving techniques...

Where Valor Rests - Arlington National Cemetery

"This unique and breath-taking video is part of the commemorative book, 'Where Valor Rests,' which honors and memorializes those who served our country as military members, and who died and are interred at Arlington National Cemetery."

This video drives home the true meaning of patriotism. We owe everything to the men and women of our armed forces who have died to preserve our freedom.

God Bless America! Make it a great day!
